Johnny Tapia's Death: Authorities Release New Details

(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) -- Authorities on Wednesday released some new details regarding the death of New Mexico boxing legend Johnny Tapia.

Tapia was found dead at his Albuquerque home on Sunday evening. Officials said he was discovered unresponsive with a bottle of Pepto Bismol and a number of pills -- including hydrocodone, a pain medication -- near his body.

Officials said Tapia complained about not feeling well the same day he died. No illegal drugs were found in the home, while a medical investigator reportedly did not see any overt signs of overdose, according to ABC Albuquerque affiliate KOAT-TV.

An official cause of death was not immediately released.
