Man Pleads Guilty to Robbing Rio Rancho Bank

(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) -- A 49-year-old man has pleaded guilty to robbing a Rio Rancho bank last November.

Steven Bernardoni pled guilty, on Thursday, to an indictment charging him with armed bank robbery. He faces up to 25 years in prison at sentencing.

Authorities said Bernardoni has admitted to robbing the Bank of Albuquerque located at 3901 Southern Blvd. on November 4, 2011. A news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office stated that a suspect -- later identified as Bernardoni -- entered the bank, pointed a handgun at the tellers and verbally demanded money, before fleeing with an undisclosed sum of cash.

Bernardoni was eventually arrested by police after a brief foot chase.
