Metropolitan Detention Center to Add 100 New Officers

(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) – The Metropolitan Detention Center in Albuquerque plans to add 100 more corrections officers to their facility.

Inmates outnumber current corrections officers 90-to-one, according to KOAT-TV, ABC’s Albuquerque affiliate. The new officers will add control and prevent mishaps.

Funding comes from the MDC’s ample budget, which adds up to a reported $64 million. KOAT says the facility's partnership with the Department of Veterans Services is intended to encourage veterans to apply for posts.

A job fair has been scheduled for Jan. 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
