Oregon Fire Crews Help Battle Little Bear Fire

(SANTA FE, N.M.) -- As the Little Bear fire continues to burn in Lincoln County, the New Mexico State Forestry Division has announced that crews are getting some help from Oregon to battle the blaze.

Officials said firefighters and engines from Oregon have arrived to assist in the fight against the raging flames, which have eaten up almost 38,000 acres of land.

"The Little Bear is still a very active fire and having the strike team from Oregon will be invaluable to fighting the fire," New Mexico State Forestry Resource Protection Bureau Chief Donald Griego said in a statement.

The fire was first discovered on June 4.
