Student Saves Classmate From Near Drowning at El Dorado Pool

(EL DORADO, N.M.) -- A student was rescued by her classmates from the bottom of an El Dorado community swimming pool on Monday, ABC News Albuquerque affiliate KOAT-TV reports.

The unidentified student was found lying at the bottom of the swimming pool, though it was not reported for how long. The students were participating in a school field day when one student spotted the girl and jumped in to pull her to safety.

The pool was under lifeguard surveillance at the time of the incident, though it was unclear why they failed to immediately respond to the girl’s near drowning.

The girl is expected to survive.
