Woman, 36, Killed in DWI
(ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.) -- Debra Valencia, 36 was killed by Branden Clark, 28, in a drunk driving accident on Saturday.
Police say that Clark's blood alcohol level was three times above the legal limit and he reportedly drank two 16-ounce beers around 2:30 PM The accident occurred at 3:11 PM, reports ABC affiliate KOAT.
According to police, Clark was disoriented, smelled of alcohol and slurred his words. In the car were Clark's girlfriend and four children. Police say that the youngest, a 1 year old, was taken to the hospital with a concussion. Clark's girlfriend was also taken to the hospital to treat injuries.
Investigators report that Clear rear-ended Valencia, sending her car into oncoming traffic. Valencia died later from injuries at University of New Mexico Hospital.
ABC affiliate KOAT reports that on Sunday, Clark's bail was raised to $500,000.
