Cuomo Announces Approval of Binghamton University's NYSUNY 2020 Application
(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.) -- The Office of Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday the approval of Binghamton University's NYSUNY 2020 application.
Tarik Abdelazim, Democratic candidate for Broome County Executive, issued the following statement:
"I am extremely pleased to hear of Governor Cuomo's approval of Binghamton University's NYSUNY 2020 Challenge Grant proposal, which capitalizes on the university's strengths, promises strong job creation, and signals a bold investment in forward-thinking strategies that affirms the University's role as a major economic engine for Broome County for years to come. I commend President Harvey Stenger for his leadership and vision, and his team for submitting an exciting and transformative plan. I am also very excited about how the Smart Energy Research and Development Facility advances one of my key economic development priorities, which is to make the Southern Tier a leader in energy-efficiency and the home of innovation for the next generation of energy sources and technologies. This is a huge victory for Broome County."
