Jack Cheevers Running for Town of Union Supervisor

(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.) -- Former Town of Union Supervisor Jack Cheevers announced Thursday afternoon that he will be running again for the position, ABC affiliate WIVT/WBGH-TV reports.

Cheevers, who previously served as the Town of Union Supervisor for six terms, made the announcement at Jonathon's Restaurant in Endwell. Former Endicott Village Trustee Frank Palmisano and political newcomer Bill Tastle are also on the Democratic ticket for town council seats. Cheevers said he's getting back into politics again since the town has officially been without a supervisor following the leave of John Bernardo last year.

The role has temporarily been filled by Deputy Supervisor Rose Sotak, but Cheevers said it's unheard of to leave the position open.
