(BROOME COUNTY, N.Y.) -- Broome County Executive Debbie Preston and Broome County Legislator Joseph S. Sanfilippo (D-Binghamton) announced Friday that Broome County residents saved more than $5 million through the ProAct Prescription Discount Card Program.

The Broome County Discount Card Program, which was made available to residents at no cost to taxpayers, covers every medication and is accepted at more than 60,000 pharmacies nationwide. Program participants save an average of 10-20 percent on brand name medications and 20-70 percent on generic medications.

Pharmacies in the area have filled more than 151,000 prescriptions that saved county residents $5,024,921 over three years.
