Former Birmingham Democrat Artur Davis to Speak at RNC
(WASHINGTON) -- Former U.S. Rep. Artur Davis—who supported President Barack Obama's 2008 campaign—will address the Republican National Convention in Tampa this month to endorse Mitt Romney, The Birmingham News reports.
Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus announced Davis' speaking slot Wednesday morning. Four years ago, Davis addressed the Democratic National Convention in Denver to second Obama's nomination for the presidency, the paper says.
Davis ran for governor of Alabama in the 2010 Democratic primary and lost the race. He left Congress after four terms the same year.
