Hyrdate the Homeless and Elderly Event on Friday

(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) -- The Birmingham Police Department, Mayor's Office and Fire and Rescue Service are hosting the third annual Hydrate the Homeless and Elderly water donation day on Friday, ABC affiliate 33/40 reports.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Personnel from the police department's Community Services Division will be present to accept water donations at the entrance to Boutwell Auditorium and will also be at the curb if citizens prefer to drive through.

They will then distribute water to those who may be at risk from the heat.
