(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) -- Switzerland-based freight company Panalpina showed off the new Boeing 747-8 to its staff on Tuesday at the Huntsville International Airport, The Birmingham News reports.
The aircraft is 18.3 feet longer and 13 feet wider than the previous 747-4. It can carry 16 percent more, produces 12 percent better carbon footprint and makes 30 percent less noise, the paper says.
It is one of two recently leased 747-8s by Panalpina, which are operated by Atlas Air, but painted with the freight company's colors and logo.
Huntsville, Alabama is the only U.S. stop for the aircraft, as it visits a number of Panalpina hubs around the world, according to the Birmingham News.
