Police Urge Car Owners to Be Cautious after String of Burglaries
(VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala.) -- Police in Vestavia Hills say at least 14 cars have been burglarized recently and are warning car owners to be on alert, ABC affiliate 33/40 reports.
The burglaries occurred from Milhaven Drive to Christopher Drive in the Cahaba Heights area. All of the vehicles were reportedly left unlocked. A variety of items, including coins, cash, checks and small electronics, were stolen.
Police say car owners can reduce their risk of being targeted if they lock their doors, activate a car alarm if they have one, remove valuables from sight, park in a well-lit area if possible and remain observant. Residents are urged to notify police if they see anything or anyone suspicious.
