Father Arrested, Suspected of Causing Shaken Baby Syndrome to Son

(BOISE, Idaho) -- Idaho Falls Police arrested a father for two counts of aggravated battery from evidence of sustained injuries to his two-month-old son, which indicated “shaken baby” syndrome, ABC affiliate KIVI-TV reports.

Russell Kern, 30, was arrested on Thursday after a warrant was issued after a police investigation.

Reports say the child was sent to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center Sunday evening and was later flown to Primary Children’s Care in Salt Lake City that same night for further treatment. The baby was in the care of Kern at the time.

The status of the child has yet to be confirmed.
