Woman Charged with Vehicular Manslaughter Goes to Court

(STAR, Idaho) -- Helen C. Burgess, 42, will be arraigned for a vehicular manslaughter charge on Friday afternoon in district court, ABC affiliate KIVI-TV reports.

Burgess was arrested on Thursday afternoon by Star Police and Ada County Sheriff’s deputies for a car crash that kill a 5-year-old boy in June.

Investigators discovered Burgess was on various prescription drugs that caused her to be impaired at the time of the crash on June 16.

Besides killing a boy, a 7-year-old girl was also seriously injured in the crash and was hospitalized for a long period of time before being released.
