Events Overseas Impact U.S. Jobs Market, Ignite Competition

Comstock Images/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- From angry protests in Greece over that country's debt crisis to civil unrest in Libya that threatens oil supplies, events overseas can have an instant impact on the U.S. economy and the jobs market.

"Our economy now is so linked to the global economy," says employment expert John Challenger.

He says that link means more competition between "our U.S. workers and the workers from all over the world for jobs in the global economy," and adds that, as a result, "we need to be more educated, we need to work harder."

Challenger says to expect job growth in energy, health care and international firms in the coming years.
