Gains at the Close for US Stocks; Liz Claiborne to Sell Its Namesake

Comstock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- It looks like Europe's finally ready to take some bold steps to fix its financial crisis, sending mid-week stocks higher in the U.S.
The Dow closed up 103 points, after having been up almost 200 Wednesday. The Nasdaq and S&P added 22 points and 12 points, respectively.
Liz Claiborne shares were up Wednesday after the company said it would sell its namesake brand and several others in an attempt to get back in the black. Failing to produce a profit, Liz Claiborne has posted 15 consecutive quarters of losses, according to The Wall Street Journal.
