Jobless Claims Fall But Remain Near 400,000

Spencer Platt/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) -- Jobless claims took a fall last week but continue to hover near the 400,000 mark, the latest weekly jobs figures show.

The Labor Department reported Thursday that for the week ending June 16, the number of people filing for benefits decreased by 2,000 to 387,000. The previous week, claims stood at 389,000.

The four-week average also shot up, climbing by 3,500 to 386,250.
