Jobless Claims Rise to 386,000

Spencer Platt/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) -- Jobless claims ticked up closer to the dreaded 400,000 mark last week, rising to 386,000, the Labor Department reported on Thursday.

For the week ending June 9, the number of people filing for benefits jumped by 6,000. The previous week, claims stood at 380,000.

The four-week average also saw an increase, climbing by 3,500 to 382,000.
