Jobless Claims Tumble to 344,000

Spencer Platt/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) -- Jobless claims dropped last week, falling by 22,000, according to the latest figures released Thursday by the Labor Department.

For the week ending Feb. 23, the number of people filing for benefits shot down to 344,000.  The previous week, claims stood at 366,000.

The four-week average also feel, decreasing by 6,750 to 355,000.
