(NEW YORK) -- While the demand for L.L. Bean's famous boots continue to surge, the winter clothing company is now facing a boycott.
The news stems from a company heiress who donated to a pro-Donald Trump Super PAC.
"We were disappointed to learn that Grab Your Wallet is advocating a boycott against L.L.Bean solely because Linda Bean, who is only one of 50+ family members involved with the business, personally supported Donald Trump for President," L.L.Bean executive chairman Shawn Gorman said in a Facebook post Sunday night.
He pleaded with shoppers not to boycott the retailer.
"Like most large families, the more than 50 family member-owners of the business hold views and embrace causes across the political spectrum, just as our employees and customers do," Gorman explained. "And as every member of the family would agree, no individual alone speaks on behalf of the business or represents the values of the company that L.L. built."
The chairman noted that the company itself does not get involved in politics: "Simply put, we stay out of politics," he said.
Gorman called the boycott campaign "misguided" and asked Grab Your Wallet to reverse its position.
