Stocks Take a Tumble with More Concerns for Europe

Hemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Investors are worrying the European financial crisis could last into next year, setting off a global recession. Their concern for the future of Europe and how it could affect us here in the United States sent stocks lower Monday.

The Dow lost 163 points, the Nasdaq finished 35 points lower and the S&P dropped 19 points.

Overall, the Dow is up nearly 4 percent, while the Nasdaq is off 1.5 percent for the year to date.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Commerce Department's report on November retail sales comes out Tuesday.  Economists are expecting solid growth compared to last year.  Online holiday shopping could be helping -- this season's sales are up 15 percent from last year.
