(NEW YORK) -- As the busy travel period approaches, experts are advising travelers to take several financial precautions before they embark on their trips.
Financial experts say those who are going to be away from home for a few days or longer should notify their credit card company and their bank before traveling. To avoid the possible situation of a bank freezing funds, individuals are advised to provide their banks and credit card companies with details about where they’ll be traveling to and the length of their stay.
“You don’t want a situation where they stop a transaction from going through because your activity appears way out of the zone of what they’re normally going to see,” said Adam Levin of the firm Identity Theft 911.
Experts say it is also best for travelers to only take cash and credit cards that they plan on using on the trip when traveling.
