Dunkin’ Donuts Updates Holiday Menu with Red Velvet Donut

Dunkin Donuts(NEW YORK) -- Dunkin’ Donuts has added a new red velvet cake donut with cream cheese drizzle to its holiday menu.  The donuts also come in Munchkin size.

One red velvet Munchkin contains 60 calories and 4 grams of sugar.  One regular red velvet drizzle donut contains 410 calories and 24 grams of sugar.

Old favorites, like a star-shaped donut filled with Bavarian cream, and peppermint mocha and gingerbread drinks, have also returned.  The mint hot chocolate drink is available year-round.

Dunkin’ Donuts has started selling peppermint mocha K-cup packs for those wanting a taste of the holidays at home.  Grocery stores will be carrying bags of pumpkin spice, gingerbread cookie and mocha mint-flavored coffee.

Tweaked Dunkin' Donuts Gift Cards Used for Identity Theft

Goodshoot/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Two men from Romania are facing 70 criminal charges after they exploited a hole in how Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards are programmed that allowed them to turn the cards into phony ATM cards.

Daniel Gheorghe and Lonel Cristian Popa, who are in the United States on journalism visas, used special software to reprogram the gift cards with stolen bank account numbers and used them to withdraw $17,703 from various bank ATMs.  

Officials were able to track down the men with help from identity-theft investigators. The two are being held on $150,000 bail and could spend the rest of their lives in prison.

Dunkin' Brands Looks to Raise $460M in Initial Offering

PRNewsFoto/Dunkin' Donuts(WASHINGTON) -- Dunkin' Brands Group Inc., the company that owns the Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and doughnut chain, is filing an initial public offering to raise as much as $460.6 million, 15 percent more than the company had once planned.

“They have really shown some strong improvement when you take a look at their operation,” said Bloomberg’s Sheila Dharmarajan. “Sales have been up...They have been showing profits.”

According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company is offering 22.3 million shares for $16 to $18 each.

Coffee Prices Are on the Rise Again

Jupiterimages/Thinkstock(ORRVILLE, Ohio) -- Coffee drinkers may soon have to pay more for their morning cup of joe.

The wholesale price of coffee beans has jumped more than 70 percent in the past year, and now, for a second time this year, a big supplier to supermarkets has announced a double-digit price hike.

J.M. Smucker Co., the company that sells Folgers and Dunkin' Donuts packaged coffees, said on Tuesday that it will charge retailers 11 percent more.  The latest increase comes on top of a 10 percent price hike in February and two more from last year.
