(NEW YORK) -- Facebook is about to add a lot more New York friends to its account, according to the social media giant that announced on Friday its plans to open an engineering center in New York City early next year.
The Wall Street Journal reports that the company plans to open an engineering center at its new space near Grand Central Terminal.
The California-based company also announced on Friday its plans to hire a team of New York-based engineers to fulfill what will be its first hub not situated on the West Coast.
"We will hire as much talent as we can find," Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's chief operating officer, said.
Facebook's marketing and advertising offices are currently stationed in Manhattan.
