Graco Recalls Two Million Strollers After Strangulation Deaths

Photo Courtesy - CPSC(WASHINGTON) -- Atlanta-based Graco Children's Products Inc. and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are recalling two million strollers because of strangulation and entrapment risks.

The recall follows reports of at least four strangulation deaths linked to the strollers.  Children have also become entrapped in the strollers, resulting in cuts and bruises.  When unharnessed, an infant can go through the opening between the stroller tray and seat bottom and his or her neck can become entrapped and strangulation can occur, the CPSC said in a statement.

The recall includes older versions of Graco's Quattro Tour and MetroLite Strollers and travel systems sold between November 2000 and December 2007.

The strollers were manufactured before a January 2008 voluntary industry standard that required a bigger opening between the stroller's tray and the seat bottom.
