(OAK BROOK, Ill.) -- McDonald's announced Friday its global comparable sales were up 3.5 percent in August—marking its 100th consecutive month of global sales growth.
McDonald’s August sales were up 3.9 percent in the U.S., up 2.7 percent in Europe and down 0.3 percent in Asia, Middle East and Africa.
McDonald's Chief Executive Officer Jim Skinner said the growth demonstrated “the ongoing customer appeal of McDonald's great tasting food, offered at an outstanding value in our modern and convenient restaurants.”
Premium offerings like the McCafe beverage line-up, McDonald's breakfast, new menu additions and modernized restaurants contributed to the fast-food giant’s growth.
