(NORWALK, Conn.) – On average, Americans will pay about $422 for airfare over the Christmas holiday, according to Priceline.com.
The figure, based on flights booked between November 3 and December 2 on Priceline.com, is down from $431 this time last year. Those who have not yet booked flights, however, could pay more.
"While there are still tickets available for holiday travel, procrastinating travelers will find their choices much more limited when it comes to getting the lowest-priced tickets," said Priceline Senior Travel Analyst Brian Ek.
Ek said that travelers who book late will be left with fewer days to find low ticket prices. As of Tuesday, December 20, Christmas Day and December 30 are the best days left to find the lowest prices.
