(CORNING, N.Y.) -- Steuben Glass, the coveted luxury brand of American glass, will end production on Tuesday.
Sixty workers will lose their jobs when the Corning, N.Y. factory closes. Steuben's flagship store on Madison Avenue in New York City will also shut down.
Steuben Glass was started in 1903 and originally specialized in colored glass. The company shifted focus of clear crystal in the 1930s, at which point its products became world-renowned and highly prized.
The company changed hands from Corning Inc. to the Schottenstein Corp. in 2008. Schottenstein announced the end of the line in August due to financial losses.
