Gas Prices Rise Sharply

(CHARLESTON, S.C.) -- Gas prices have sharply risen in South Carolina in recent weeks, and drivers are now paying more than they did at the same time last year, The State reports.

On Wednesday, the average price of gas was $3.41—one penny more than the same day in 2011 and 49 cents more than it was on July 3, which was the lowest price, according to AAA Carolinas. One week ago, the average price was $3.37 and one month ago it was $3.05.
