Police Search for Hit and Run Driver of an 18-Wheeler

(CHARLESTON, S.C.) -- Police are still searching for a driver of an 18-wheeler who ran over the legs of a person ejected during a car crash on Interstate 526 Friday, reports The Post and Courier.

The hit and run occurred around 2:35 a.m. on Interstate 526 near the River Landing Drive exit and was a single-car wreck.

The backseat passenger was ejected from the vehicle, while the driver was partially ejected.

Police say an 18-wheeler traveling eastbound kept driving after he struck the ejected backseat passenger. The two injured people are being treated at Medical University of South Carolina.

If anyone has information about the truck driver, please contact Officer Matt Wojslawowicz at (843)965-4084.
