SC's Unemployment Rate Holds Steady

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) -- The unemployment rate in South Carolina remained unchanged from July to August, according to a report released by the state's Department of Employment and Workforce.

The report stated that in August South Carolina's unemployment rate stood at 9.6 percent, the same as in the previous month. There were 204,941 unemployed workers in the state in August, down 2,021 from the month before.

The national unemployment rate, meanwhile, fell to 8.1 percent in August, from 8.3 percent in July.
