South Carolina Boasts Cheapest Gas in Nation

(COLUMBIA, S.C.) -- South Carolina has the nation's cheapest gas prices, according to AAA's Fuel Gauge, The State reports.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was at $3.06 Thursday, while the national average was at $3.47. Prices in the state have fallen steadily since peaking at $3.73 in early April. An AAA spokesman said prices have dropped every day except one in South Carolina since April 9.

He said he expects prices to stay low throughout the summer, according to The State.
