SWAT Team Officers Fatally Shoot Man in Three-Hour Standoff

(MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C.) -- One man died in a three-hour standoff in the quiet neighborhood of Mt. Pleasant Tuesday, the Post and Courier reports.

SWAT team officers shot 60-year-old Richard Cathcart III when he stepped out of the house shortly before 6 p.m. and reportedly pointed his gun at them.

Cathcart III died a short time later at Medical University Hospital.
