Scammers Targeting Veterans Filing Benefits Paperwork

(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) -- Although it’s complicated to apply for disability compensation or pension as a veteran, the Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs has stated that it’s illegal for vets to be charged a filing fee, reports ABC affiliate WATE-TV.

Veterans have been targeted by scammers trying to skim cash from vets' benefits.

The TVDA wants veterans and their dependents to understand the veterans’ affairs department is there to help file the benefits paperwork for free.
