(CHATTANOOGA, TENN.) -- Chattanooga's ranking in the latest list of America's most dangerous cities shows some improvement. Last year, Chattanooga came in at 62nd but has dropped on the list for this year to 67th. The rankings are based on 2009 federal crime statistics and are compiled by independent publisher CQ Press.
The crimes factored into the ranking include murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault and motor vehicle theft.
Memphis is the most dangerous Tennessee city, based on this list, at 12th in the nation. That's also an improvement, from number ten last year.
St. Louis, Missouri ranks as the number one most dangerous city in the nation, according to CQ Press. Colonie, New York is the least dangerous, ranking 400. Its a suburb of that state's capital, Albany.
