UT Scientist Receives Prestigious International Award

(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) -- The Catalan government in Spain bestowed professor Dan Simberloff of the University of Tennessee with the Ramon Margalef Award for Ecology, according to the Knoxville News Sentinel.

Simberloff has studied exotic plants and how animals have adapted in different environments in Patagonia and Croatia.

He will be awarded $100,000 and will attend a ceremony in Barcelona in October hosted by the president of Catalonia.
