Chicago Police Officers Charged with Sexual Assault

(CHICAGO) -- Two Chicago police officers were charged with sexual assault Wednesday.

Paul Clavijo, 38, and Juan Vasquez, 38, were both charged in a complex incident on the North Side of Chicago. The victim was picked up by the two officers, one of whom she reportedly had intercourse with before arriving at her apartment. Once inside of her apartment, the officers made continual advances on the woman despite her objections. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Both officers will appear in bond court in Chicago on Thursday.

Teen in Serious Condition After Being Shot in Chest

(CHICAGO) -- A 16-year-old boy is in serious condition after police say he was shot in the chest Tuesday evening on the city's southwest Side.

Police say the incident occurred around 6 p.m. in the 4000-block of South Rockwell Street. The teen is currently being treated at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Authorities say they have yet to make an arrest in the shooting and that the case remains under investigation.

Governor Quinn Celebrates Cinespace Film Studios

(CHICAGO) -- Illinois Governor Pat Quinn was joined by actor Kelsey Grammer on Monday in celebration of the new Cinespace Chicago Film Studios.

According to a release from the governor’s office, the state-of-the art film and television studio is set to become the nation’s largest studio outside of Hollywood. The state is investing $5 million in capital funding into the facility.

When construction is complete, the studio will reportedly include 1.2 million square feet of space. Parts of the new Transformers movie and A Nightmare on Elm Street, along with parts of the television show The Chicago Code have been filmed at the studio.

Couple Charged in Death of Son Found in Concrete

(GARY, Ind.) --  A couple was charged on Tuesday with the murder of Christian Choate, 13, whose body was found last week in a concrete slab at a mobile home park in Gary.

Riley Lowell Choate, 39, and Kimberly Leona Kubina, 45, kept Christian in a dog cage, deprived him of food and beat him regularly. Choate and Christian's stepmother, Kubina, are charged with murder, battery, neglect of a dependent and criminal confinement. Christian was forced to take ice-cold showers and left in the cage naked except for a diaper. Choate also forced his other children to beat and chain Christian.

He died in April 2009 after being beaten by Choate for refusing to eat.

Mayor-Elect Outlines Plans for First 100 Days 

(CHICAGO) -- Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel has outlined his goals for his first 100 days in office.

He released these aspirations in a 72-page document Tuesday. The document is divided into four categories: our government, our children, our communities and our growth.

Within those sections, he provides more specific goals like attracting new business and reducing the budget deficit.

“I am proud of my transition team's work -- not just the results, but the process. The team's work was informed by a rich diversity of perspectives," Emanuel said in a statement. "These are the principles that will guide the work of city government moving forward.”
