Man Accused in Fraud Scheme to Avoid Paying Impound Fees
(CHICAGO) -- A Chicago man has been arrested and charged with bankruptcy fraud, for his alleged role in a scheme to cheat the city out of impound fees.
Daniel Rankins, 30, was arrested Thursday following an undercover investigation by the FBI and the city of Chicago’s Office of Inspector General.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said that Rankins was part of a scheme where individuals, in exchange for cash payments, orchestrated and assisted in the filing of false bankruptcy petitions to avoid paying impound fees to the city.
