Police: Bank Robber Steals $100K, Caught Hiding in Air Duct

(CHICAGO) -- A 38-year-old bank robbery suspect was arrested Sunday after he was found hiding in the air duct system of a strip mall in Oak Lawn.

Police said on Saturday afternoon a man entered a Bank of America branch on the 4000 block of West 111th Street, where he proceeded to tie up two employees and steal a quantity of cash. Police were alerted by an alarm, and arrived on the scene to prevent the robber from fleeing.

Officers searched the area for over 10 hours, until finally locating suspect Charles Estell wedged in an air duct vent around 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

Estelle is accused of taking as much as $100,000 in the robbery.
