Police Search for "Crummy Cookies Bandits"
(LAKEWOOD, Colo.) -- Police are looking for two armed men in connection with at least five robberies in the Denver and Lakewood area.
Officials say the two men are dubbed the "Crummy Cookies Bandits" because in one of their thefts at Subway restaurant, they ordered cookies first then robbed the business.
In one incident, the suspects entered a 7-Eleven store on West Colfax Avenue in Lakewood where one of the suspects bought candy and when the clerk opened the register, he jumped over the counter and demanded cash while holding a BB gun to her face. When the clerk attempted to reason with them, one of the suspects shot her in the face with the gun and continued shooting as she ran away.
The two men are believed to be responsible for at least five similar incidents during three weeks in November. They are described as black males between the ages of 22 to 29 years old, of medium build and 5'7" in height. One has a shaved head while the other has short dark hair and wears earrings in both ears.
A Lakewood Police Department spokesman said in Colorado, using a BB gun in the commission of a crime carries the same punishment as using a real gun because it is used for the same effect of causing fear in the victim.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000 or call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
