Observant Officer Nabs Suspect in Assault Case

(COLORADO SPRING, Colo.) -- An observant Colorado Springs police officer, on Thursday, arrested a suspect in connection with an assault incident, which occurred almost a year earlier.
A police report stated that shortly after 1:30 a.m. officers responded to 145 S. Academy Boulevard following a call about males fighting. There, a responding officer identified at least two men who were reportedly fighting, with the officer then recognizing one man as 26-year-old Maycon Yascon Perez-Carias -- a suspect in an assault case the officer had investigated on June 30, 2011.
After interviewing the suspect, police said the man eventually admitted to being involved in the crime and was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.
