(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.) -- Police recovered a $5,000 bicycle reported stolen from an open garage on Feb. 1.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, police said that the victim of the theft found a Craigslist ad that featured pictures of his bicycle posted 12 hours after the burglary was reported. Colorado Springs police detectives and Monument police set up a meeting with the Craigslist user and after confirming that the bike was indeed the stolen bike, they arrested two men.
William Fortune, 20, and Tyler Fraser, 22, were taken into police custody on Monday. Fortune confessed to stealing the bike, the Gazette reports, adding that he asked Fraser to help him sell it on Craigslist. Fortune was charged with second-degree burglary and theft charges. He was also carrying a weapon when he was arrested, resulting in an additional charge of unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon.
