Lockdown Lifted at Berkeley Schools

(MONCKS CORNER, S.C.) -- A lockdown was lifted at Berkeley County High School after briefly shutting down because of reports of a man threatening to shoot people at the school.

ABC News affiliate WCIV-TV reports that St. Johns Christian Academy and the Berkeley County Alternative School were also placed on lockdown with officers at the schools due to the threat that someone planned to bring a weapon to Berkeley High School.

Despite lifting the lockdown a couple of hours after it took effect, Moncks Corner police captain Mark Murray said they were still taking the threats seriously and were actively seeking leads in the case.

South Carolina Aquarium to Release Sea Turtles

(CHARLESTON, S.C.) -- After undergoing medical treatment at the facility, three sea turtles will be released back into the Atlantic Ocean by the South Carolina Aquarium on Friday.

Two of the sea turtles are loggerheads, of which one was treated after being found floating in Beaufort on May 30; a  medical examination revealed that the floating was caused by air trapped in the intestinal tract, likely by an impaction, according to a statement on the aquarium's website. Officials say the other loggerhead was picked up by a South Carolina Department of Natural Resources crew on their loggerhead trawl on May 31, and an examination found that the animal had a loss of keratin on her soft tissue areas, with blood work revealing anemia.

The third sea turtle was caught by a fisherman on June 21, and had to undergo surgery after it was discovered that the animal had swallowed a hook.

The sea turtles are scheduled to be released around 4:30 p.m. at the Isle of Palms County Park.
