DOJ to Monitor Primary Elections in Two SC Counties

(WASHINGTON) -- The Department of Justice says it will be monitoring primary elections being held in two South Carolina counties on Tuesday.

In an announcement Monday, the department said its officials will be keeping an eye on primary elections in Fairfield and Williamsburg Counties, to ensure compliance with the Voting Rights Act.

The Act prohibits discrimination based on race, color or membership in a minority language group, during elections.
