(TAMPA, Fla.) -- Authorities discovered OJ Murdock, 25, a wide receiver for the Tennessee Titans, on Monday morning with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Tampa, Florida, reports ABC affiliate WATE-TV.
Officers found Murdock’s body in his car outside of Middleton High School, where he was a former high school football star.
He was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition and died at 10:43 a.m. Eastern Time.
In July 2011, Murdock signed with the Titans as an undrafted free agent, but spent the full 2011 season benched because he suffered a right Achilles injury during rookie training camp.
