Haley Speaks from International Airshow in London
(COLUMBIA, S.C.) -- Gov. Nikki Haley spoke from the Farnborough International Airshow outside of London Tuesday morning, the Post and Courier reports.
The governor said that, although no deals have been made, she has been selling the state as a business destination. So far, she has had 15 to 17 meetings with Boeing suppliers and other aerospace companies, and the S.C. Department of Commerce has taken part in three times as many meetings.
Haley justified the cost of the 30-delegate trip, which is estimated to exceed $100,000 but is not expected to exceed the cost of last year's trip to the Paris air show, the paper says.
Haley plans to meet Tuesday night with GKN Aerospace, which is building a new plant in Orangeburg County this year. She will return to South Carolina early Wednesday morning.
