(COLUMBIA, S.C.) -- Claude Scarborough, a major legal figure in South Carolina, has died. He was 82, The State reports.
Scarborough helped transform a small Columbia boutique law firm into one of the largest firms in the South. He joined the firm, now named Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, in 1955, when it had a small number of lawyers. The firm now has 440 lawyers with offices along the East Coast, including over 150 in South Carolina, the paper says.
A funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Cathedral, according to The State.
