SC's Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Coming This Weekend
(CHARLESTON, S.C.) -- South Carolina's yearly back-to-school sales tax holiday is coming up this weekend, the Post and Courier reports.
Beginning Friday at 12:01 a.m. until midnight on Sunday, the state's 6 percent sales tax and any local sales tax on a variety of items, from clothes to computers and bookbags, will not be in effect, the paper says.
The Washington D.C.-based National Retail Federation says the average person will spend about $689 on back-to-school merchandise, an $85 increase from last year.
