(COLUMBIA, S.C.) -- Starting July 1, South Carolina will have a new Inspector General, as decreed by Governor Nikki Haley. The Senate Judiciary Committee has recommended Patrick Maley for the position.

Since 2009, Maley was in charge of the Birmingham, Alabama district as an FBI’s special agent. He has been an FBI veteran for 30 years.

The office that Maley will hold is in charge of investigating fraud and other internal crimes within the state government.
